gräfix 418
Monodrain binder
The special binder (based on trass flour, cement and other additives) reliably prevents the capillary rise of water while at the same time being permeable to water. Mixed with aggregate (4/8 or 5/8), gräfix 418 can be used outdoors as a drainage layer. Indoors, the single-grain mortar can be used as a load distribution layer under a wide variety of coverings in order to achieve shorter construction times through faster drying.

Laying natural stone or ceramic material on monodrain single-grain mortar outdoors
Natural stone used outdoors must be frost-resistant and dirt-resistant. Only dense natural stone coverings such as granite or quartzite are therefore suitable for this area of application. When laying natural stone and ceramic tiles in drainage mortar, a bonding bridge to the single-grain mortar is required.
Apply monodrain single grain mortar
Mix gräfix 418 Monodrän binder for single grain mortar with water and grit grain size 4/8 or 5/8 to a plastic mass and apply to the laying substrate (screed, concrete, insulation or gravel base layer) with a trowel and level relatively accurately.
Apply the contact layer
e.g. gräfix 34 fine for natural stone or gräfix 3423 fine for ceramics
Apply with a notched trowel (10 mm or larger) to the back of the laying material to ensure the deepest possible bond to the single grain mortar.
Moving the slab
Lay the installation material fresh-in-fresh in the mortar bed and tap in.
Grouting
After the laying mortar has hardened, the covering is grouted with a cementitious gräfix tile and natural stone flex joint or a gräfix natural stone drainage and paving joint.
