We conserve resources during dismantling

Added value

Our Jurassic quarry was formed 190 to 130 million years ago from the shells and skeletons of marine organisms. It is very important to us to further process the Jura stone in a purpose-optimised way, as each stone can only be used once. Due to their mineral composition, certain stone layers are particularly suitable for burning to produce quicklime, while others are suitable for further processing in gravel works as aggregate for concrete and asphalt mixtures, as well as gravel base layers. Selective classification prior to extraction saves resources and has a positive effect on the material quality - a decisive factor in the production and refinement process.

We work in line with the needs of the plant and animal world

Renaturalisation and nature conservation in the quarry

New habitats are being created in our extraction area. Renaturalisation creates areas for flora and fauna to flourish. New biodiversity can develop in the disused and renaturalised areas of the quarry. Ideal living conditions provide a nature reserve for small and microorganisms. Birds will find a permanent home in the stone wall and the newly created flora. The Landesbund für Vogelschutz e.V. (LBV) helps us with advice on possible nature conservation issues relating to the quarry. At the beginning of 2024, we committed to the "Temporary Nature" project to promote temporary habitats for endangered amphibian species in our quarry. The first successes of the recommended measures were already evident by the middle of the year.

We are proud of our close relationship with employees and partners

Long-term relationships

Our employees are an immensely important asset. Long-standing company affiliations promote friendly relationships and create a pleasant working atmosphere. Our employees' wealth of experience is extremely valuable to our company. We are proud of our employees, who often go the extra mile. Through an "open door" philosophy, we encourage direct and honest communication. As a qualified and award-winning training company, we secure the future of our company and the region.
We also maintain long-standing relationships with our business partners and value mutual trust. The regular exchange with the neighbourhood
in the immediate vicinity of the quarry is also very important to us. Citizens and interested parties can find out more about our activities here: https: //endress-im-dialog.de/

We optimise our energy requirements in all areas

Energy efficiency in operations and administration

As an energy-intensive company, we are keen to reduce our energy requirements through various measures. The exchange of experience in the "OBEN" energy efficiency network helps us to do this.

In the commercial sector, we take care to optimise fuel consumption through a modern fleet of vehicles and machinery. Examples of this include our electric forklift truck and the newly acquired fuel-efficient wheel loader for the quarry. There are various sources of heat in the company and we endeavour to obtain this thermal energy in the best possible way in a closed cycle.

But it's not just the large machines and systems that are resource-efficient. The administration building, which we moved into in 2021, is absolutely state-of-the-art and extremely energy-efficient with a purely mineral thermal insulation composite system and a ceiling heating system that is fuelled by wood chips from regional farmers.

We inform the public about the emissions from our lime kiln

Staying below the legal emission limits is our top priority

Our concept for the future is based on three key pillars:

  • Doing business in harmony with the environment and nature
  • Added value of local products
  • Investments for a region worth living in

As a raw materials extraction company, we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment and our surroundings.

Our aim is to minimise emissions from our operations, such as dust, other air pollutants, noise and vibrations. To achieve this goal, we invest large sums in the continuous optimisation of emission concepts.
Production in our lime kilns is subject to the Federal Immission Control Act. The limit values specified there are very strict by global standards. Through regular exhaust gas measurements by an external measuring institute and continuous recording of emissions data, we are able to demonstrate that our operations comply with the authorisation requirements. You can read the latest emissions overview here.
