What needs to be considered when processing Jura limestone?

On Tuesday, 14 October 2025, we held a specialist seminar on the topic of natural stone at our Gräfenberg site. With many exciting, informative and entertaining presentations. Among others with two well-known personalities from the natural stone industry, Dr Micheal Böttner (geologist and mineralogist) and Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Detlev Hill (initiator of the website "Deutsche Natursteine").

There were also presentations by Andreas Spreng, an employee of Genowe, on the special features of Solnhofener and Jura slabs, by Stefan Jedersberger, Head of Application Technology at MoellerStoneCare, on the topic of "Why should natural stone be protected after installation?" and by Gunnar Schmidt, Head of Application Technology for tile/natural stone at "gräfix", on natural stone installation "safe & durable".

All speakers reported on the special properties and areas of application of natural stone in indoor and outdoor areas. Due to the regional proximity to the Altmühltal, all speakers also dealt with the local Jura limestone (especially Jura grey and Solnhofener-Plattenkalk). Information was provided on the correct selection, correct laying and subsequent cleaning, including protection.
