Honour for the "Temporary Nature" project

We create new habitats for rare species

We return unused areas in our quarry to nature. Valuable habitats are created there for animals that can hardly find refuge elsewhere. For example, the yellow-bellied toad, which has successfully colonised our reclaimed areas. Our demolition team plays a key role in this, with new trenches being dug and temporary puddles being blocked off.

On Friday, 10 October, a special tribute was paid to this commitment as part of the "Temporary Nature" project. Bavaria's Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber honoured several raw material companies that have made a special commitment to species conservation. We are delighted to be part of this forward-looking project.

In front of around 100 guests and participating organisations and authorities, the Environment Minister presented the certificates and corresponding project signs together with the Chairman of the Bavarian Nature Conservation Association LBV (Landesbundes für Vogel- und Naturschutz), Dr Norbert Schäffer, the President of the Bavarian Industrial Association for Building Materials, Stones and Earths (BIV), Georg Fetzer, and the project managers Dr Stephanie Gillhuber from the BIV and the LBV nature conservation officer Dr Andreas von Lindeiner.

Around nine years ago, the unique and, at the time, courageous species conservation project "Temporary Nature" was launched in Bavarian raw material extraction companies. Over the years, initial reservations - on the part of both nature conservationists and industry - have developed into a trusting co-operation that is still a novelty today.
